Barbecue, also known as BBQ, is loved by many people around the world. It involves cooking meat over an open fire or grill. Different countries have unique ways of enjoying barbecue.

In South Africa, barbecue is called "braai." People in South Africa love braai so much that they have a national holiday for it called Braai Day, also known as Heritage Day. On this day, people take off from work to gather in public places and barbecue all day. Families and friends come together, and the smell of delicious meat fills the air. South Africans cook many types of meat, like beef, chicken, and sausages, on the braai.
In the United States, barbecue is very popular, especially in the southern states. Each region has its own style. For example, in Texas, barbecue is often beef brisket cooked slowly over many hours. In North Carolina, people enjoy pulled pork with a vinegar-based sauce. Barbecue in the U.S. is often served with sides like coleslaw, beans, and cornbread.
Argentina is famous for its barbecue, called "asado." In Argentina, people cook large pieces of beef, pork, and sausages over a fire. Asado is not just about the food; it is a social event where people spend hours together, eating and talking.
In Australia, barbecue, or "barbie," is a popular way to enjoy the outdoors. Australians cook sausages, steak, and seafood on their barbies. It is common for families to have barbecues in parks or at the beach.
Some countries are known for their high meat consumption. South Africa, Argentina, the United States, and Australia are all countries where people eat a lot of meat. These countries have strong barbecue traditions and enjoy meat as a big part of their diet.
